Catoosa County Release Records
A release from Catoosa County Jail means the jail no longer holds the person under that booking. It does not always mean a return to the community. The person may leave on bond, after a court order, at the end of a county sentence, or because another agency takes custody. A transfer to the Georgia Department of Corrections, another county, a federal authority, or ICE is still an exit from the Catoosa jail.
The Catoosa County Sheriff's Office maintains the local booking and bond trail. Its public Zuercher portal is labeled “Current Inmates,” yet the system can also display a release-date value on some records. A court docket can explain the legal event behind the exit. GDC and the State Board of Pardons and Paroles control state-prison release and parole facts. The record must be matched to the correct custodian.
Current custody and past custody answer different questions. A current result can show where someone is held now. A prior booking with a release timestamp shows that the named Catoosa booking ended. Neither fact alone explains the final court outcome. That requires the case record, and a later transfer requires the receiving agency's record.
- Discharge
- The end of custody or supervision under the controlling sentence or agency record.
- Time served
- A release based on credit for confinement already completed.
- Detainer
- A request or hold from another agency that may cause a transfer instead of community release.
- Parole
- Conditional release from a state prison sentence under supervision.
Catoosa County Release Paths
The reason for release determines where the next record appears. Catoosa permits property bond, an approved bonding-company bond, or an exact-change cash bond when bond has been set and no other charges or holds prevent release. A sentenced county inmate follows the county sentence and earned-time record. A state prisoner follows GDC and Parole Board records.
| Release path | What it means | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or court order | The person leaves the county booking, subject to all holds. | Sheriff booking sheet and court docket |
| Time served or sentence end | The county term has been credited or completed. | Jail release record and sentencing court |
| State transfer or parole | GDC takes custody, or the person leaves state prison under parole. | GDC, Parole Board, and DCS |
| Federal or ICE transfer | Another custodian receives the person. | BOP, ICE ODLS, USMS, or federal court |
A dismissal, probation sentence, or revocation order may also explain the jail exit. Catoosa court records often give more legal context than the roster. The jail record answers when the person left the facility; the court record helps answer why.
Catoosa Release Record Fields
No single Catoosa public form contains every possible release fact. A Zuercher result, booking sheet, court docket, bond record, and sheriff records response may each contribute part of the answer. The release timestamp is the key local indicator. A non-null release date can show that an older record is no longer a current-custody record.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name and identity details | The person tied to the booking; compare age or date of birth when shown. |
| Arrest and booking date | When the Catoosa custody event began. |
| Release date or time | When the jail record marks the person as released from that booking. |
| Held-for agency | The agency connected to the hold or custody. |
| Hold reason or charges | The charge, warrant, sentence, bond, or other stated basis. |
| Bond details | Bond amount or type when the source displays it. |
| Release or transfer reason | The stated reason for exit, if included in the records response. |
A booking sheet is the named GovQA request category for formal booking facts. Do not assume every field will appear in every response. Ask for the exact release date, reason, and receiving agency when those facts matter.
Identity should be reconciled before dates are compared. Common names may require age, date of birth, race, sex, arrest date, or held-for agency. If two systems use different identifiers, include both in a follow-up request. This reduces the risk of joining a court case to the wrong jail booking.
Request Catoosa Release Records
The official local fallback is the Catoosa GovQA open-records portal. It offers Sheriff's Office Open Records categories that include Booking Sheet, Photo Request, and Other. A person who does not use the portal may ask for an Open Records Form at the Sheriff's Office.
- Choose the Sheriff's Office records category in GovQA.
- Select Booking Sheet for the booking record. Use Other when asking for a specific release or transfer fact.
- Give the full name, aliases, approximate booking date, and age or date of birth if known.
- State the exact fields sought, such as release date and time, release reason, or receiving agency.
- Keep the response with the matching court record when legal disposition also matters.
Georgia's Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70 et seq., governs access to public agency records, subject to exemptions in § 50-18-72 and other laws. Pending investigations and booking photos can require separate treatment. The research did not identify a set public retention span for Zuercher results, so a saved portal view should not replace a records response.
The GovQA support home shows how county, sheriff, and court request paths are separated.

That division helps route a booking sheet to the sheriff while a certified case outcome goes to the court.
Catoosa Release Processing Time
Catoosa County Jail publishes no set out-processing time after bond is posted. Safety, jail traffic, movement inside the facility, and established procedures all affect the exit. A family member should not treat payment of bond as proof that the person has already walked out. The roster or release field can also change at a different point in the workflow.
First appearance can affect when bond becomes available. Two sheriff pages give slightly different early-afternoon times, so current practice should be confirmed with the jail or Magistrate Court instead of relying on a fixed hour. Holds from other counties or agencies may stop community release even after a Catoosa bond is satisfied.
Catoosa Bond Release Details
Catoosa's bond rules explain why “bond posted” and “released” are not the same fact. When the person has a bond and no outstanding charges or holds elsewhere, the jail accepts a property bond, a bond through a company approved by the sheriff, or an exact-change cash bond. Cash bonds do not accept cards or checks. Each bond also includes a $20 State of Georgia bond fee paid in cash.
Property bonds must use Georgia property. Catoosa property must have net worth equal to twice the bond, with taxes current. Property in another Georgia county must be handled through that county's sheriff. These terms concern the bond method, while the release record confirms the later custody change. A receiving hold can still turn the event into a transfer.
Note: Catoosa publishes the bond rules, but the jail expressly declines to promise a fixed release-processing time.
Catoosa Jail Release Statistics
The sheriff's official Summary page provides a useful historical measure of jail turnover. In 2012, the jail reported an average daily population of 198, 3,701 new bookings, and 3,700 releases. Those figures are not a current annual estimate. They show that releases nearly matched bookings in that specific reported year.
The figures give context, not a person lookup. A current name must still be checked through the portal, sheriff records, and the other agency systems tied to the case.
Property After Catoosa Release
Release and transfer can leave property questions behind. Catoosa says a transferred inmate who cannot take property may name someone to collect it. Property not picked up within thirty days after the inmate leaves will be destroyed. That rule makes prompt contact with Jail Administration important when a transfer has occurred.
Cash is not released to another person except to a bonding company so the inmate can post bond. The jail also says item release generally requires a hardship exception approved through Jail Administration. These rules address property, not custody status. A property pickup arrangement does not itself prove the release reason or destination.
Catoosa Release Record Restriction
Georgia often calls expungement “record restriction.” Catoosa uses a local date split. For an arrest before July 2013, the sheriff says the person may begin with an expungement form, the court disposition, and $25 exact change. The sheriff completes its part and sends the packet to the district attorney for a decision. The local sheriff step is described as taking three to five business days.
For an arrest after July 2013, the sheriff directs the person to the prosecutor, either the district attorney or state solicitor. O.C.G.A. § 35-3-37 is the state record-restriction law. Restriction can change public access to some records; it does not rewrite the historical fact that a booking occurred. Ask each custodian how an approved restriction affects its own display.
Find Catoosa County Released Inmates
Start with custody type and search a named person through the right system. The Catoosa Zuercher inmate portal supports name, race, sex, arrest date, release date, held-for agency, and in-custody date filters. A dated release field is stronger evidence than a missing name in the default current view.
- Search the county portal by name and compare the arrest date, age, sex, race, and held-for agency.
- Look for a release timestamp. If none appears, do not infer release from absence alone.
- Request a booking sheet and release confirmation through sheriff records when the portal is incomplete.
- Search the Catoosa court docket by party, associated party, or case number for bond, sentence, dismissal, probation, or revocation.
- Use GDC and parole systems only for state custody or supervision. Use federal and ICE locators when a transfer is indicated.
For same-day browsing, the Catoosa County jail releases in 24 hours page explains why no confirmed standalone feed is promised. A named-person search should still follow the full chain above.
Catoosa State Release Search
The Georgia Department of Corrections offender search is for GDC custody and state-sentence information, not ordinary short Catoosa jail bookings. GDC says the tool may provide charges, facility location, release date, and a photo when available. Search with the closest name or identifier, then distinguish an actual release date from a Maximum Release Date or Tentative Parole Month.
| Search or result field | Use |
|---|---|
| Name, description, ID, or case number | Find and narrow the correct GDC offender. |
| Status and facility | Shows whether the person is associated with GDC custody and where. |
| Release date | May give an actual or scheduled state release date when present. |
| MRD | Maximum Release Date if the full sentence is served, apart from parole. |
| TPM | Tentative Parole Month, which is not a final parole grant. |
GDC tells users to verify information in writing with Inmate Records and Information at PO Box 1529, Forsyth, GA 31029. If the person left state prison on parole, the Parole Board's parolee search and the DCS LaFayette Field Office provide the post-release supervision route.
The GDC Find an Offender explainer sets out the state search's scope.

The state page should be used after a GDC sentence or transfer is known, not as a substitute for the county booking record.
Catoosa Release Court Records
The jail does not set or supply court dates. For state and county charges, the sheriff routes questions to the District Attorney at (706) 965-9055 or the State Solicitor at (706) 965-4477. When a municipal officer made the arrest, the appropriate city court is the route. The Catoosa CM Web Search also lets users search by party, associated party, and case number.
A docket may show the bond order, plea, sentence, dismissal, probation term, revocation, or transfer that explains a release. Search spelling variants because the court's own disclaimer recommends it. The Clerk of Superior Court and State Court can provide certified case records when a roster screenshot is not enough.
Catoosa Release or ICE Transfer
Immigration holds are a documented Catoosa issue. The sheriff's 2026 second-quarter Criminal Alien Track report lists 913 bookings, 70 LESC inquiries, 63 responses indicating an inmate was an illegal alien, and 40 DHS detainers. These are agency statistics, not a list of named people.
A Catoosa release date may therefore mark transfer to DHS or ICE rather than a return home. When the booking or sheriff response mentions an ICE hold, detainer, LESC inquiry, or immigration transfer, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator with an A-number and country of birth or biographical details. A federal warrant or USMS hold requires the federal court or U.S. Marshals path. BOP applies to federal prison custody and can show a release date for a person no longer held by BOP.
Spellings, birth details, and agency labels may differ across county and federal records. Keep the Catoosa booking date and held-for agency at hand when contacting the next custodian. The transfer record, not a guess based on roster absence, connects the two custody events.
Catoosa Release Facility History
The current Catoosa County Jail opened in September 2002. The sheriff describes a 54,000-square-foot facility with space for 248 inmates. It holds men and women, both pretrial and convicted, for offenses in Catoosa County, including Ringgold and Fort Oglethorpe.
That mix explains the broad range of exits. One person may post bond after first appearance, while another completes a county term or transfers to GDC. The physical jail is the start of the local release trail, but the court, records office, supervision agencies, and receiving custodians preserve different parts of it.
Catoosa Release Record Facilities
The release path can move through several official systems. Each link below represents a distinct records or custody role, so names should not be searched in every system as though each held the same data.
- Catoosa County Jail records the local custody exit.
- Sheriff Records supplies booking sheets, photos, and prior-incarceration responses.
- Catoosa County courts preserve bond, disposition, sentence, and probation records.
- GDC, the Parole Board, and DCS cover state custody and supervision.
- VINELink supplies status notices when a participating feed contains the person.
- BOP, ICE, and USMS channels cover federal or immigration custody.
Georgia's sex-offender registry is separate from custody. A registration record after release should never be read as proof that the person remains jailed.
