Catoosa Sheriff's Release Records
The Records Division maintains Sheriff's Office records and handles open-records requests. Its staff also maintain bond information and share inmate information with the District Attorney and State Solicitor. That makes the division the local reconciliation point when the online roster, a court case, and an outside agency record do not agree. A person who has left the practical current-custody view may still have a booking sheet and release or transfer data in the Sheriff's Office record system.
Records staff also work with Parole, Probation, Superior Court, Magistrate Court, Probate Court, and outside agencies on inmate transfers. They do not decide parole, sentence a defendant, or operate a federal locator. Their record can show when Catoosa custody ended and may identify why or where the person moved. The receiving agency or court then supplies the next authoritative record.

Request Catoosa Release Confirmation
The official online channel is the Catoosa GovQA portal. The sheriff's own instructions route questions about a person currently or previously incarcerated to Open Records Request, Submit a Request, and the Sheriff's Office Records tab. The request menu includes Booking Sheet, Photo Request, and Other. Choose Booking Sheet for the core jail record. Use Other when the question calls for a release reason, exact release time, or receiving agency that may not be obvious from the booking sheet alone.
- Open GovQA and select the Sheriff's Office open-records category.
- Identify the person by full name, aliases, and age or birth date if known.
- Give the approximate booking or arrest date and arresting agency.
- Ask for the booking sheet and the exact release, discharge, or transfer fact needed.
- Keep the request number and review any fee or clarification notice from the custodian.
A precise request helps staff distinguish people with similar names and find an older stay. State whether the question concerns bond, time served, sentence completion, or transfer to another agency. When the destination matters, ask for the release-to or transfer-agency field if maintained. Do not assume every responsive booking sheet has the same fields.
Note: Use the prior-incarceration wording when a released person's record no longer appears in the portal's current/default view.
Catoosa Booking Sheet Fields
The public Zuercher setup shows the types of information Catoosa uses: name, race, sex, age, arrest date, release date, held-for agency, in-custody date, and hold reasons. A booking sheet may also contain booking number, charges, bond, court, or arresting agency. Yet the Sheriff's Office has not promised that every field appears on every released-person response. Ask for the specific fact rather than relying on a generic category name.
- Release date
- When local jail custody ended.
- Release type
- Bond, order, sentence end, or transfer if recorded.
- Held-for agency
- An agency whose hold may continue after Catoosa custody.
- Bond information
- The bond maintained by records staff, not proof that out-processing is complete.
- Court disposition
- The legal outcome held by the Clerk, not the jail record itself.
A release timestamp and a current-custody status should be read together. An older record returned through a broad date search does not put the person back in jail. Absence alone also does not establish release to the community. The Catoosa released inmate search path shows how to pair these fields with court and receiving-agency sources.
Catoosa Records Office Contact
The Sheriff's Office uses a post-office mailing address, while the jail and reception are on Highway 41. Lobby hours are published for weekdays. After hours and on weekends, an intercom at the reception counter reaches the Jail Control Room. That after-hours contact may route an immediate jail inquiry, but open-records requests should still use GovQA or the office form so the scope is recorded.

The official Records page identifies Rebecca Holcomb as division supervisor and also lists rebecca.holcomb@catoosacountyga.gov. For a non-emergency deputy or report request, the sheriff directs callers to dispatch at (706) 935-2323. Emergency requests do not belong in the records queue.
Reconcile Catoosa Release Records
A jail record answers when the person left Catoosa custody. It may not answer the final case outcome. Search the Catoosa Clerk's party or case-number portal for bond orders, dismissal, sentence, probation, or revocation. Use GDC when the county record shows a state-prison transfer. Use the Parole Board and DCS for parole or adult felony probation. If a hold or transfer names ICE, BOP, USMS, or another county, move to that custodian's locator or records office.
For a court-certified result, request a disposition or sentence order from the Clerk. For a state-prison discharge, follow GDC's written-verification route to Inmate Records and Information. Records Division remains the best local source for the booking and release transaction.
Catoosa Record Restriction Packets
Georgia commonly calls expungement record restriction. The Catoosa Records page separates arrests before and after July 2013. For an arrest before that point, the published local path starts with a sheriff form and court disposition. The sheriff completes its portion and sends the packet to the district attorney for a decision. The page lists a $25 exact-change fee and a three-to-five-business-day local step before phone notice.
For arrests after July 2013, Catoosa directs the person to the prosecutor, either the District Attorney or State Solicitor. Restriction concerns access and visibility under Georgia law. It is separate from proving the release date, and it does not rewrite the fact that a booking once occurred. Ask the proper court or prosecutor about the case before assuming the sheriff alone controls the result.
Catoosa Photo Record Requests
GovQA includes a Photo Request category. Georgia law places specific limits on law-enforcement release of booking photographs in circumstances involving publication and paid removal, so a photo request is not guaranteed merely because a booking sheet exists. Identify the exact booking and state the legitimate record need. The responsive agency applies O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19 and any other lawful exception.
A booking photo is not release proof. Pair any image with the release record and court disposition. A GDC offender image belongs to a separate state-prison record and should not be described as the Catoosa jail booking image unless the source establishes that fact.
Catoosa Open Records Law
Georgia's open-records framework is O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70 et seq. It provides the process for requesting and inspecting government records, while § 50-18-72 contains exemptions that can affect law-enforcement material. A records request is therefore a request for existing agency records, not an order that staff create a new explanation or answer every question in narrative form. Ask for the booking sheet, release entry, transfer record, or other identifiable record that contains the needed fact.
GovQA is the clearest online route, but its published FAQ also says a person who does not use the portal may request an Open Records Form at the Sheriff's Office. Give the same precise identity and date information in either channel. If the office asks for clarification, narrow the date range or record type without dropping the core release fact. If part of a file is exempt or unavailable, the responsive agency determines what can be produced under Georgia law.
Records staff perform more than public-counter work. The official division description covers data entry, terminal-agency-coordinator duties, bond information, and the transfer of inmate information to prosecutors and other justice agencies. That operational role explains why Records can reconcile a booking and transfer trail that is spread across the public portal, jail staff, court, and a receiving agency.
Catoosa Records Jail Origin
The records handled here begin with a locally distinctive detention center. Catoosa's current jail opened in September 2002, covers 54,000 square feet, and has a published capacity of 248. It holds both men and women, including pretrial and convicted people charged with offenses in Catoosa County, Ringgold, and Fort Oglethorpe. Those mixed custody roles produce booking, bond, sentence, and transfer records rather than one uniform release form.
The Records Division preserves the official handoff after a person leaves that jail. A request can connect the 2002 facility's booking entry to a release date, court action, or receiving agency. The physical history does not change the legal result, but it explains why this records office is part of the facility map even though it does not hold inmates itself.
Catoosa Records ICE Transfers
Catoosa's 2026 second-quarter Criminal Alien Track report documented 913 bookings, 70 LESC inquiries, 63 responses indicating an inmate was an illegal alien, and 40 DHS detainers. For Records Division purposes, that source shows why a release-to-agency field can be essential. A local release date may document the handoff to ICE rather than an exit from all custody.
Ask for the transfer or receiving-agency detail when an immigration hold appears. Then use ICE ODLS for federal detention status. The Sheriff's Office can verify its own booking and transfer record; it cannot substitute for ICE's current locator.
